Seasalt is a family business that is committed to providing ethical fashion, it began in 1981, when Don Chadwick relocated the family to Penzance in Cornwall from Walsall in the Midlands.
The story goes that Don and his son David were wandering around Penzance on a damp and dismal August day and they popped into the Army & Navy stores with the intention of purchasing a waterproof jacket, instead half an hour later they were proud owners of the entire shop.
Twenty seven years later, the Chadwick family still run the original Seasalt shop in Penzance, and the portfolio has expanded to include ten others, mostly in Devon and Cornwall, but one on the island of Guernsey too.
Sadly Don passed away in 2001, but Seasalt business still thrives in the capable hands of his sons Neil, David and Leigh.
All of the products sold by Seasalt are chosen because of their beautiful, functional design, with emphasis on ethical production.
Seasalt are dedicated to:
- Promoting the use of organic and other eco-friendly textiles whenever possible.
- Minimising our resource use and dealing responsibly with all our waste.
- Efficient use of energy and the use of renewable energy sources where possible.
- Giving preference to suppliers who share our commitment to the environment.
In 2005 Seasalt became the first fashion company to have garments certified to Soil Association standards, this has helped the business go from strength to strength.
